Warning Sign (Misdirection)

Here in the western world, there are a multitude of signs we are told to observe. Warning labels on coffee, that it may be hot. Really? Warning labels on almost all of the products we buy and use. Other than poisons, the first labels I remember are the ever present smoking caution labels.
But a lot of warning signs are put up just to make us overlook the real danger. They are there to get us to thinking something is wrong when it is not. All the while more destructive events are happening, Healthcare Reform. When people are allowed to determine who gets to live or die based on the cost, things are out of control. Why are we in such a hurry???? I am not against healthcare. I have problems that the traditional ins company, in all of their fiscal greed, will not cover! The medical business has brought this on themselves with the overcharging for services, their need for all the toys they want. Success is good!!! Just don't pave the road to success over the graves of your so-called patients!

Just Warning!

You blame this on the medical business? You overlook the attorneys who have driven up the costs of malpractice insurance. Malpractice insurance has been a huge part of the increase in healthcare. It's not the doctors who are getting rich--it's the attorneys getting rich from the doctors.

Unfortunately, our government is partially responsible for the rise in healthcare.

If they would allow free enterprise to run its course, they would compete against each other... price included. Also, no one would go to the worst hospitals and they would be put out of business.

I live in a country with universal healthcare, so it's hard to imagine a system that is run for profit. Saying that, when I see people speaking against the introduction of a similar system in the US, they often don't seem to be very well informed about how it works. The 'warning' that treatment will be decided by bureaucrats for example, that doesn't happen. Here in the UK, at least, your doctor decides what treatment you get and he doesn't have to defer to an insurance company who might decide they don't want to pay.

Some companies, particularly insurance companies, are a little over extended to say the least. Being solvent today is no guarantee of surviving tomorrow. AIG is one of many that comes to mind and perhaps your friend's company is in worse shape than he knows. Bad decisions have been made, management is concerned with dropping revenue and increasing liabilities. Removing 90% of the wreck chasing lawyers from the workforce would be a good start. Followed that by removing judges from the bench that can't read and understand the constitution. Finally, get rid of those politicians that vote to take your money from you and return it through a bogus stimlus package, of course keeping 99% of it for themselves in the process.
